Ballyjamesduff

Local community member Pamela Brady and Cavan photographer Kristina Kelly came together to run a small project in their local area of Ballyjamesduff.

THE PHOTOGRAPHER

Kristina Kelly is a lifestyle and documentary style photographer based in Ballyjamesduff, Co Cavan. The most vivid memories from her childhood were looking through boxes of family photographs that her mother had gathered throughout the years and listening to all the adventure stories behind them.

Kristina became obsessed with documenting her family’s adventures during their travels around Ireland and abroad. She could sense how fleeting the time was and how important it was to capture those moments, so they’re not lost forever in our ageing minds. Kristina loves giving people memories to look back on that bring a heartfelt reaction, making moments of connection, laughter and fun to be remembered year after year. Emotive storytelling is at the heart of Kristina Kelly’s photography.

“Being able to do this project has brought me so much joy. I was looking at ways to give back to the community and this was a perfect opportunity to do that. I have always loved looking through old photographs that depicted how people lived at a point in time. Knowing that my images will be encapsulated for generations to come, makes me feel honoured to be part of this wonderful initiative.”
