Gerry O'Connor

Interviewed by Amy O’Keeffe / photos by Emma O’Brien

Amy: How long have you lived in the area?
Gerry: Since the 2000s.

Amy: What’s a fond memory you have of living here?
Gerry: Joining the shed.

Amy: Have you seen this community come back from hard times before?
Gerry: Yes, Celtic Tiger years were difficult financially.

Amy: What are some things that have helped you through lockdown and what brings you joy?
Gerry: Reading, poetry, music and football.

Amy: What does community mean to you? What sort of things are you doing now to stay connected to your community and family?
Gerry: The shed. Community group work.

Amy: What message do you want to share for yourself and this community in 10 years time?
Gerry: Things only improve working together as a community. If you look at any society they all work with each other (like the amish).
