Catherine Farrell

Interviewed by Abigail Farrell Butler

Abigail: How long have you lived in the area?
Catherine: 37 years.

Abigail: What’s a fond memory you have of living here?
Catherine: The children were using a mattress as a slide on the stairs and took turns sliding down the stairs. Also, everyone’s birthdays (18ths and 21sts).

Abigail: Have you seen this community come back from hard times before?
Catherine: Yes. Lots of construction in the area that caused a lot of interruptions.

Abigail: What are some things that have helped you through lockdown and what brings you joy?
Catherine: Peace and quiet. Being able to go for walks without crowds.

Abigail: What does community mean to you? What sort of things are you doing now to stay connected to your community and family?
Catherine: Looking out for elderly neighbours.

Abigail: What message do you want to share for yourself and this community in 10 years time?
Catherine: “Are we on the brink of World War 3?”
