Peter McCormack

Interviewed by Brooklyn Doyle / photographs provided by participants.

Brooklyn: How long have you lived in your area?
Peter: 74 years.

Brooklyn: What’s a fond memory you have of living here?
Peter: I had the option of living anywhere but I chose Newtown. I have no bad memories, only good memories.

Brooklyn: What are some things that have helped you through lockdown and what brings you joy?
Peter: Walking and seeing all the wildlife. I made a bike track for my grandchildren.

Brooklyn: What sorts of things are you doing to stay connected to your community and family and what does community mean to you?
Peter: My house is about 300 years old, so I tidy up the village whenever I can. Community means a lot to me.

Brooklyn: What message do you want to leave for yourself and your community in 10 years?
Peter: I hope the community carries on even in hard times. Newtown has a strong spirit and is a lovely village. You don’t need to go far here to encounter history!
