Interviewed by Dorothy Taye

Dorothy: How long have you lived in the area?
Ann: 16 years.

Dorothy: What’s a fond memory you have of living here?
Ann: Getting involved with the church and going to gospel choir, walking on the beach with friends.

Dorothy: Have you seen this community come back from hard times before?
Ann: I am just hoping to get through Covid.

Dorothy: What are some things that have helped you through lockdown and what brings you joy?
Ann: Meeting friends and walking on the beach with them and visits from my grandchildren.

Dorothy: What does community mean to you? What sort of things are you doing now to stay connected to your community and family?
Ann: Community means working at Home Support and helping the elderly, and I am delivering meals on wheels once a month.

Dorothy: What message do you want to share for yourself and this community in 10 years time?
Ann: People should help one another and be friendly.

Pictured below is a drawing of a McDonald’s that Dorothy drew as her creative response to her interview with Ann! She would love to see a McDonald’s in Bettystown, since there are many children and teenagers and it would provide employment.
